Everything. Even if your online goals are not about making a profit you need to understand certain aspects of running any website in a business like fashion.

Do you have a hobby or part-time interest? Sure you do. Everybody does. Whether it's cats, birds, model planes or playing games - anything at all can earn you money on the internet because the internet is all about small clubs and niches. People that have the same interests or hobbies that you do. You can take your hobby online and earn money from it. Now wouldn't that be great? To have a hobby that you love doing plus you get to earn some cash to support that hobby.

Take a look at the very bottom of this page. Did you see all those links to other websites? Those websites (and others - plus new ones added all the time) are all owned, run and managed by me. They make me money.

I run multiple business websites out of a small spare room in my house. Am I rich? Not, yet. But each month that goes by I make a little more money. We have reduced our debt and have paid off all our cars and all but one credit card. We don't buy anything unless we can pay cash. It is wonderful not having a huge debt burden hanging over us.

Now, there is no magic bullet for everybody. People earn money different ways. Some people earn money within just a few weeks of starting while others take longer. But if you want to pursue the "American Dream" of independence, never give up!
